Flashdance Soundtrack Celebrates 40 years + Other Half Entertainment Special Video Added to Laura's Official Artist Channel on YouTube!

On April 15, 1983 the romantic drama and dance film FLASHDANCE was released in theatres. To commemorate and celebrate the film's 40th anniversary, special screenings of FLASHDANCE took place in theatres on April 26 and 30, 2023.

Laura has the distinction of being the only artist to have two songs featured in the film, "Imagination" and her signature song "Gloria," with "Imagination" appearing on the soundtrack. "Imagination" was written by Michael Boddicker, Jerry Hey, Phil Ramone, and Michael Sembello. Laura credited Ramone for giving the song what she described as "a little more of a New York sound. It has one foot on the curb and one in the street." Ramone, who also served as the film's music supervisor, produced "Imagination."  The song is featured in a dance scene with lead character, Alex (Jennifer Beals). "Gloria" is found later in the film, as it accompanies Jeanie (Sunny Johnson) during an ice skating competition.

The FLASHDANCE original soundtrack spent 2 weeks at #1 on the Billboard 200 chart and is RIAA multi-platinum certified, making it one of the best-selling albums of all time. Laura received a Grammy nod when the record was nominated for "Album of the Year." Riding on the great success of the soundtrack, "Imagination" became the first song in Laura's concert set during her first major tour in 1983. Laura would reunite later with Grammy-winning producer Ramone for work on her 1993 OVER MY HEART album.

As we commemorate the 40th anniversary of FLASHDANCE, enjoy Other Half Entertainment's special video tribute to Laura's great contributions to this iconic film!
