It's always GREAT to return to St. Louis, the city that has such significance to such a wonderful chapter of Laura's legacy - the phenomenal story of the NHL's St. Louis Blues and Laura's iconic signature song "Gloria," the 2019 victory anthem for the team all the way to winning their first Stanley Cup in team history, and the ever-familiar phrase "PLAY GLORIA"!!! What a wonderful ride the Stanley Cup Final was that year as I spent 22 days in St. Louis attending every game and every watch party at Enterprise Center, a well as staying busy doing a media tour that gave me great opportunities to tell many others about Laura. There was nothing like hearing GLORIA blaring in the arena after a WIN! I will never forget the feeling of being in the arena in St. Louis at the moment the team clinched the championship in Boston - pure joy and pandemonium...with GLORIA playing 4 times on a loop...so very happy for Laura, wishing so much that she could have physically been there to take it all in, but knowing in my heart and spirit that she was smiling down on it all, as I stood there in Enterprise until the very last note played.
Last evening, the first thing I did when I sat down in my seat was look to my left at the Stanley Cup Championship banner in the rafters. I still get chills just looking at it, or seeing video of its raising, remembering what it felt like to see that banner be raised to "Gloria" when I returned to St. Louis for the ceremony and season opener in October 2019. That evening I felt such pride for Laura and her beloved "Gloria,"
It's great to be back in the city that I hold with great fondness and love in my heart. The people of St. Louis and Blues fans always being so very kind and treating me so nicely and warmly as one of their own, and it's a place where I have fostered enduring friendships that mean a lot to me. It was wonderful to be back at a Blues game last evening, after almost 2.5 years due to the pandemic. I also got to see the team play an awesome game and win it...although I'm not going to lie, it's strange not hearing that intro to "Gloria" coming up in the arena after a win, but I totally understand and support the Blues "retiring" the song on its highest note, preserving it with that GLORIOUS Stanley Cup winning season.
Looking forward to tomorrow's game too! Let's Go Blues!!!
