We were informed today by Milton Hammon of a newly released book, Countdown - Complete Episode Guide, that he co-authored with Brett Leslie. This book is the most definitive book ever published about this iconic Australian TV music show that was hosted by Ian “Molly” Meldrum.
On Laura's first visit to Australia in 1983, she was a special guest and co-host (first time doing so) on “Countdown.” "Gloria" was at the top of the charts in Australia and Laura's BRANIGAN 2 album had released a couple months prior, so Laura was making the rounds promoting her new album, while continuing to capitalize on the success of her super-hit from her debut album. She performed "Gloria," "Solitaire," and "Deep in the Dark" in this episode of the show.
