Laura's Debut Album Celebrates 44 Years!!

At this time in 1982, Laura’s Atlantic Records debut album BRANIGAN was released — the moment her years of hard work, perseverance, and belief in herself finally met the world. With her naturally powerful, resonant, four‑octave voice and her remarkable adaptability across genres, Laura was poised for anything. BRANIGAN became her doorway into the pop music landscape, a cohesive blend of four up‑tempo tracks and five beautifully crafted ballads.

The album’s nine songs — “All Night with Me,” “Gloria,” “Lovin’ You Baby,” “Living A Lie,” “If You Loved Me,” “Please Stay, Go Away,” “I Wish We Could Be Alone,” “Down Like a Rock,” and “Maybe I Love You” — showcased the depth and range that would define Laura’s career.

“All Night with Me” opened the album and served as the lead single… but it was “Gloria,” released a few months later, that changed everything. Radio hesitated at first, unsure of its American‑European fusion, but the song’s energy and Laura’s powerhouse delivery were unstoppable. “Gloria” became her breakout hit, launching her into international stardom and ultimately becoming one of the most iconic songs not just of the 80s, but of pop music history.

A debut album is always a leap of faith — exciting, uncertain, and deeply personal. For Laura, BRANIGAN was a triumph, setting the course for all the music and performances that followed.

Happy 44th Anniversary, BRANIGAN!!

To all of you who have been here since the beginning, and to everyone who has joined the LB family along the way: thank you for keeping Laura’s legacy alive and sharing her spirit with the world. As Laura loved to say, “You’re the best!” And we couldn’t agree more.
