Other Half Entertainment announces that a biographical film about Laura Branigan, with the working title Branigan is currently in development by Out of Time Pictures.
The film will focus on Laura’s early life—Laurie before she became known to the world as Laura Branigan—and will follow her journey up through the breakthrough success of “Gloria.” This period represents the foundation of her artistic identity and personal resilience, and we recognize the importance of presenting it with accuracy, dignity, and respect.
I recently met Rob Levinson of Out of Time Pictures and throughout our conversation I was encouraged by the thoughtful and conscientious approach he is bringing to the screenplay. His commitment to honoring Laura’s legacy is clear. His intention is for audiences to come away with a deeper understanding of the person behind the voice, not only the celebrated artist who rose to international acclaim.
Mr. Levinson is currently writing the screenplay and casting roles. Out of nearly 300 submissions, Los Angeles actress Sam Labrecque has been chosen to portray Laura. I believe Ms. Labrecque will carry Laura’s story with great care and heart, and I am confident she will portray Laura with the warmth, authenticity, and humanity she deserves.
Other Half Entertainment will continue to assist Out of Time Pictures with this project and remains dedicated to safeguarding Laura Branigan’s legacy and ensuring that her story is represented with integrity, authenticity, and heartfelt respect.
