Other Half Entertainment is happy to add to Laura's official artist channel on YouTube a video of Laura and her epic, sensual, and controversial "Self Control" video up for "Favorite Pop/Rock Female Video," along with Cyndi Lauper for "She Bop" and Tina Turner for "Better Be Good to Me" at the American Music Awards in 1985.
It’s interesting to note that Laura was one of the first artists of the video era to work with an Academy Award-winning film director on a music video, and that director was William Friedkin (The Exorcist, The French Connection). The controversy surrounding the "Self Control" video was due to its sexual content and innuendo, and it actually became the first music video to be banned from MTV!
The video award was presented by Stephen Stills and Corey Hart, with Cyndi Lauper the winner.
